We aim to be consistent in our approach, dynamic in our thinking, passionate in everything we do.
Since our inception we’ve worked hard and developed a great culture of passion, drive and teamwork. Our “work hard, play hard” environment has produced great business results and resulted in over 40% of current staff being with the business for over four years.
Alternative Networks is, and always has been, a great place to work. We offer opportunities to develop and grow, we reward and recognise our employees and provide a positive working environment.
Our aims are simple – to work hard and to enjoy what we do.
Equal opportunities and diversity
We’re committed to equal opportunities and do not discriminate in our recruitment, employment, promotion or training. We’re also committed to ensuring no employee is subjected to harassment or bullying for any reason and all managers receive training on these issues. This is also included in our induction for all new employees.
Our HR team conduct a diversity audit every quarter to ensure we are meeting our commitment of developing and maintaining a diverse workforce.
The employee experience
We aim to maximise the employee experience through training and development, a positive working environment and by fostering a culture which embraces respect and individualism.
We encourage the involvement of our management team and employees in defining and developing the culture of the business. We’ve recently introduced initiatives to review our recognition and reward strategies, what we stand for as a business and how we encourage opportunity within the whole organisation.
The environment and our community
We encourage employees to respect our community and environment and have introduced the following environmental initiatives:
- Recycling paper, cans and plastic cups
- Donation of mobile phones to Action Aid
- Clothes recycling for a local Hospice
- Green Day (for World Environment Day)
- “Lights out London”
- Recycling computers to Computer Aid
We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint through reducing printing and energy usage, little or no air travel and recycling of old computer equipment and furniture.
Charity
Over the last few years we have made a number of charitable donations to both local and national charities as well as contributions to our community.
In 2005 we made a donation to a local council-run after-school facility that allowed them to complete their refurbishment with new computer and technology equipment.
More recently we’ve made donations to support employees taking part in charitable events such as the London to Brighton bike ride, Race for Life, 3 Peaks Challenge and Red Nose Day. This has been to support a variety of charities from Cancer Research, British Heart Foundation, Childline and DEC to name but a few.
We have also recently introduced an initiative to allow our employees to give blood during office hours.
