Purpose of job
The primary role is to provide expert support to the day to day work of the Senior DBA and also in maintaining and providing operational support to a wide range of database systems. ANP have a mature applications portfolio driven by an extensive MS-SQL database infrastructure, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring these SQL systems perform to documented performance and uptime standards.

Main responsibilities
- Database tuning and monitoring databases for errors and perform problem determination when necessary.
- Assist in the maintenance of sound back up recovery policies and procedures.
- Setup and maintain documentation and standards.
- Assist in the implementation of data de-duplication and cleansing strategies, operational deployment of tools and processes.
- Writing New and Maintaining Existing Reports using SSRS
- Writing New and Maintaining Existing SSIS Packages.
- Assist in the maintenance of servers, software and systems.
- Implement best practices in terms of data security and management including archiving and data protection.
- Assist in Data queries and analysis, including exporting and importing of data.
- Assist in the co-ordination of database releases.
- Provide operational DBA cover when required.
Person criteria
Essential
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Hands on and ownership personality and good at working with Development Teams and end users
- Must be highly self-reliant, motivated and able to take ownership of tasks through completion
- The Ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience in a relational database environment. Experience using SQL Server 2005, SQL Server Business
- Intelligence Studio, SSIS and SSRS.
- Experience writing SQL syntax, triggers, and stored procedures.
- Understanding of database backups and recovery techniques.
- Experience in fast paced production or operational system arena
Desirable
- SQL Server 2008
- Experience working in a Web based environment.
- Experience in Dot Net technology.
- Experience in Data Warehousing and Data Architecture.
- Experience in design, development, implementation & maintenance of corporate databases.
