Purpose of job
The primary role is to provide expert support to the day to day work of the Senior DBA and also in maintaining and providing operational support to a wide range of database systems. ANP have a mature applications portfolio driven by an extensive MS-SQL database infrastructure, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring these SQL systems perform to documented performance and uptime standards.

Main responsibilities

  • Database tuning and monitoring databases for errors and perform problem determination when necessary. 
  • Assist in the maintenance of sound back up recovery policies and procedures.
  • Setup and maintain documentation and standards. 
  • Assist in the implementation of data de-duplication and cleansing strategies, operational deployment of tools and processes. 
  •  Writing New and Maintaining Existing Reports using SSRS 
  •  Writing New and Maintaining Existing SSIS Packages. 
  •  Assist in the maintenance of servers, software and systems. 
  •  Implement best practices in terms of data security and management including archiving and data protection. 
  •  Assist in Data queries and analysis, including exporting and importing of data. 
  •  Assist in the co-ordination of database releases. 
  •  Provide operational DBA cover when required. 

Person criteria


Essential

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands on and ownership personality and good at working with Development Teams and end users
  • Must be highly self-reliant, motivated and able to take ownership of tasks through completion
  • The Ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience in a relational database environment. Experience using SQL Server 2005, SQL Server Business
  • Intelligence Studio, SSIS and SSRS. 
  •  Experience writing SQL syntax, triggers, and stored procedures. 
  •  Understanding of database backups and recovery techniques. 
  •  Experience in fast paced production or operational system arena

Desirable

  • SQL Server 2008 
  • Experience working in a Web based environment. 
  •  Experience in Dot Net technology. 
  •  Experience in Data Warehousing and Data Architecture. 
  •  Experience in design, development, implementation & maintenance of corporate databases.
