Purpose of job
To ensure that Alternative Networks plc (AN) exceeds its sales and retention budgets for our System division through conceiving and delivering an effective sales and marketing plan, and engagement with the sales teams, clients & prospects, and our suppliers.

Main responsibilities

Our Customers:Establishing what they want through client insight. Developing, enriching, and retaining our customers through client visits, and public appearances at events.

Our Suppliers:staying close to our suppliers product development roadmaps through regular contact with key suppliers, ensuring that we gain or maintain an early mover advantage when it comes to selling their products.

Our People:ensuring that they are knowledgeable on our key solutions and emerging technologies, enabling them to add value to our customers. This includes, Sales, CM, and the management team.

Our Product Strategy:Pulling together the above three strands, to devise, present, and deliver a product strategy for The Group.

Strategic cross selling and retention:Identifying and delivering sales results in key cross-sell and up-sell areas.  Introducing new technology to our customer base to reduce churn.

Product testing:working with other product managers and pre-sales to test new products.

Business plans:preparing business plans (including sales forecasts) to support product development requests

Other responsibilities

  • Planning campaign activity with Marketing Team
  • Generating ideas to create opportunities and close existing pipeline, including attractive target segments or verticals
  • Sanity checking campaign and promotional proposals from Sales, Commercial, and Marketing
  • Trouble shooting issues which prevent sales or increase churn
  • Contribution to other multi-product propositions (e.g. Fixed-Mobile Convergence)
  • Providing technical copy for Marcoms team
  • Recommending updates to the sales toolkit to the Marketing team
  • Supporting Sales and Client Management in the field on suitable opportunities
  • Supplier management, including: sales forecasts, sales and marketing plans, and product introductions
  • Technical escalations as appropriate
  • Ensuring sales are only selling the signed off solutions
  • Training
    • Train the trainer as required
    • Being available to train individuals and groups as required
  • Briefing Internal Communications on the content of the Product Bulletin
  • Other related ad hoc projects as necessary

Person criteria

 

Essential Qualities:

  • Minimum of 2 years Product Management or Sales and Marketing experience in the chosen product area
  • Excellent communication skills:
    • At all levels, both internally and externally
    • Verbal, written, and face to face
  • Well organised and ability to prioritise and manage several ongoing tasks.
  • Ability to network and influence at a senior level within the business

Preferred Qualities:

  • Self motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Drives action through managing virtual teams
  • Strategic thinker– understands multiple points of view and generates ideas accordingly
  • Experience of writing and following a sales and marketing plan
