Phonepay Plus announces timescales for the changes in 0871 regulation; 0870 changes still unclear.
Speaking at a recent event hosted by the Direct Marketing Association in London, Phonepay Plus confirmed new timescales in the regulation of the 0871 number range.
Phonepay Plus is due to take control of the 0871 range in September. This follows consultation with Ofcom, and a three-month transition period. From then on, 0871 will be reclassified as a premium rate number and will have new regulations. These will include clearly communicating the cost to call your numbers, either in the marketing or the call handling. Furthermore, if you’re using a call-queuing system, the experience must be clear and transparent.
