Mobility solutions

Mobility solutions allow you to connect different aspects of your communications to enable you to work on the move.

Home / Remote working

With ever increasing commute times and exorbitant property prices, the ability to work from home is becoming more and more important to businesses. Alternative Networks can provide end to end solutions to enable your employees to work from remote locations across a broadband line whilst benefiting from all of the same features and functions their counterparts enjoy back in the office.

Users have a multitude of options depending on their circumstances. They can have a physical telephone like the one they have in their office, yet connect back to their office telephone system via a broadband connection. Alternatively, they could use a softphone running on their laptop with a USB headset. Users can roam between sites transparently with the same look and feel as if they were sitting at their desk in the office.

Handset integration

For cordless users within the workplace, 802.11b (WiFi) based technology can be used to integrate cordless handsets on your telephone system over your internal wireless data network. Advanced push-to-talk capability can lower costs over large sites whilst utilising multicast technology to reduce bandwidth.

Mobile extension

Mobile extension functionality enables you to twin your mobile phone with your desk phone presenting a one telephone number, one voicemail solution to incoming callers. When callers dial your number, it rings both devices leaving you the option to answer the call on either device and transfer between the two as required, for example if arriving at or departing from the office, the user can transfer the call seamlessly from one device to the other.

Dual mode ‘wireless’ / GSM’ mobile integration

Taking mobility a step further, the latest Dual Mode ‘Wireless’ and ‘GSM’ mobile handsets gives you the flexibility to roam on and off your sites with calls routing over your office wireless data network whilst on-site and routing via the mobile GSM network when you leave your site.

Business continuity

This is an important consideration for any business. In conjunction with our Non-geographic numbering plans, we can design a solution to provide contingency should a disaster occur ensuring calls are re-routed automatically and users log on to redundant controllers on different parts of your network ensuring no loss in service.
